  • Apply for IRB approval if using human subjects

  • Submit Thesis or Dissertation Proposal Form (no specific due date)

  • Prepare your thesis

  • Submit Thesis Reviewers Report (due one week before your defense)

  • Defend your thesis or dissertation (follow departmental guidelines)

  • Make any changes recommended by your committee and get their signatures on the Cover Sheet (we require this paper document even if you are submitting electronically).

  • Digitize any permission letters obtained for the use of copyrighted works and include them at the end of your ETD.

  • Submit the electronic thesis to the Graduate School using our ETD Submission Form by the deadline.

  • Submit hard copies of the following also by the deadline:

  • Work with the Graduate School until your ETD passes review, which will be confirmed via e-mail.

  • Pay the thesis processing fee that has been posted to your student account.

  • In about four weeks, check the 'Search ETDs' link on this website and you will find your thesis included!

The electronic components of your thesis should be submitted on-line and the hard-copy components should be submitted to Christine Quigley, Graduation Coordinator at the Graduate School, by the last business day of the month in which you would like your degree awarded (except in May, when the deadline is the first business day of the month).

Please note that you must also submit the Application for Graduate Degree (http://grad.georgetown.edu/pages/current_student_forms.cfm) by the first business day of the month in which you would like your degree awarded (except in the Spring, when the deadline for applying for a degree in February, March, April, or May is the last day of add/drop in January).
